Tall northern green orchid
A better shot of the tall northern green orchid we came across at Singing Sands on the Bruce Peninsula. Not sure why the flowers were so spotted (see close up below). They definitely don't have spots in the guidebook.
More Bruce orchids
A couple helleborines (Epipactis helleborine) growing between two rocks. None of the helleborines we saw were in bloom yet.
Bruce Peninsula orchids
I missed the official Bruce Peninsula Orchid Festival this year, but made it up to the area a couple weekends ago and although missed the Yellow and Ramshead ladyslippers in bloom, found at least seven different types of orchids, including our prized find of a showy ladyslipper (Cyprepidium reginae), pictured immediately below.
The pink on the one we spotted isn't too bright:
We found a huge area of Grass pink orchids (Calopogon tuberosis) on the southern part of the Bruce Peninsula, near Oliphant:
I believe this is a Tall northern green orchid (Platanthera hyperborea). Will post another shot of the whole plant in a subsequent post.
A couple shots of Rose pogonia (Pogonia ophioglossoides), always growing near pitcher plants in bloom:
A very large yellow ladyslipper (Cypripedium calceolus var. pubescens), too bad it had finished blooming!
And Ram's head ladyslipper (Cypripedium arietinum), also finished blooming:
