Maxillaria bloom
Here is a picture of one of Jenn's orchids I am caring for - Maxillaria negroides. I haven't been able to find any references anywhere to this species, so I really wasn't sure what to expect from the flowers. Jenn purchased this plant at the Victoria Orchid Society sale this past spring.
It's in bloom!! I got back late last night after being away on for 3 days with my mom and the flower had opened!! Will post pix as soon as I get a chance - by this weekend I promise. The plant has another bud on it as well, but I was expending the longish sidepetals hanging down, but it doesn't have those! It's a species not a hybrid, right?

I have been anxious to see what the bloom would look like! $10 extremely well spent I would say!
