Victoria Orchid Society show
Last weekend Jenn came to town for a visit and we went to the VOS show where we met up with Sasha. The three of us hit the sales area first, and after carefully selecting some new plants, we toured the display plants. The orchid show marks the one year anniversary of my avid collecting phase, and the three new plants I bought brings my total new plants in the past year to 27! The centrepiece of the top picture is of course a beautiful Coelogyne cristata. One day my plant might look like that!! Below, Jenn is admiring a Paph. micranthum.

Just another reason I need to make up to Victoria.
Great blog! I love flowers, especially orchids, dabbling in growing some orchids and taking their photos too.
I live in a condo and am trying to keep my collection small, dedicated mainly to small flowering, compact plants. One of my favorites: Dendrobium Mingle's Sapphire, a primary hybrid of 2 Philippine species, Den gonzalesii x victoriae-reginae.
Keep up the great work! Glad you made it to the Blogger front page!
I love how the number of orchid species keeps increasing!

Orchids are a beautiful reminder of God's grace in this fallen world.
Wonderful Blog.I´m from Colombia, South América, where you can find thousands of classes of "orquídeas", and also our national flower is the orchid. You can find orchids every where, from 2.800 mts altitude to 0 feet. And know here are many of horticultors.

Hi. This is my first time to your blog. Orchids are interesting to me, but I've never tried my hand at them.
My question ... how warm do you have to keep the house in order to keep orchids?
You're welcome to visit my blog at

Beautiful Beautiful pictures! WOW--you bought 27 orchids in one year alone? It's an expensive addiction, and please post more about how you get them to re-bloom okay!
If you check out the postings in June, July and August 2005 there are some great photos of orchids in our home as well as on our travels. A few people mentioned the Singapore National Orchid Gardens, which I also visited a few years ago. I posted photos from that trip and you'll find on the blog (in August 05 I think).
