Finally, a cattleya in bloom!

I was very excited to discover my Cattleya forbesii with a spike a few weeks ago. I received this plant as a gift from Jocelyn Bertrand when we placed a small order with Beaver Valley Orchids a couple of summers ago. The plant is now in full bloom, and the flower is much greener than I expected, especially after seeing a number of images and plants in bloom that had a lot more of a brownish tinge to them. There is a slight scent to the flower in midday sun, which might deepen as the flower ages.

Here is some more information about the distribution of Cattleya forbesii (Brazil). Looking at the bottom picture, I would definitely say that mine falls in the "apple green" camp.
